Hapag-Lloyd Aktiengesellschaft and Arkas have decided to enter a joint venture due to increasing trade volume in Turkey by creating a new company called Hapag-Lloyd Overseas Transport as of January, 2005.
 
Hapag-Lloyd Overseas provides container shipment services (including reefer containers) to various destinations all over the world, through its offices and warehouses at the Izmir, Istanbul, Mersin and Gemlik ports. Hapag-Lloyd Overseas offers direct services to ports at three different continents (Europe, America, and the Far East) from Turkey.
